Wok' a Good Deal

Image
Now when it comes to Asian food, you often have a harsh choice to make, you either opt for a cheap, below average, takeaway or find yourself in an Indian with your friends and before you know it, you're paying for curry, sides, naan breads, starters ... you get the picture.  Here are a few key places within Glasgow which fall between these two extremes, and hopefully wont rip you off in the process! Yippon  Location: 106 George Street, G1 1RF Now this is worth the investment. The long queues are enough to tell you how good it is, so do avoid peak times if you can. With their own staff claiming they serve the "Best chips in Glasgow", the Salt and Chilli Fries are a must. Great option for fresh Chinese food which doesn't leave you as full as when you order far too much for delivery.  Unique to Glasgow City Centre and located a stone's throw away from Strathclyde University and George Square it's ideal for when you've got a train to catch at Que...

Food Fiesta

Image
Whether a true Mexican food lover like myself or simply a fan of your mum's fajitas, there are some great options in the City Centre which will cater for your appetite. Less common than burgers, pizza and breakfast in Scotland, Mexican restaurants are on the rise. Here are some reasonably priced options in Glasgow.  Topolobamba  Location: 89 St. Vincent Street, G2 5TF An extensive menu of Mexican food can be found at Topolobamba, and it really is the king of our food Fiesta. Offering both 'Small Plates' and 'Big Boys' you are sure to find something you'll enjoy no matter how hungry you are.  Great options from a Stuffed Chimichanga to a lighter bite with the Crispy Taquitos. Or for those who would like spice, some  Jalapeno Poppers on the side.  Located in the heart of many of the restaurants in Glasgow, Topolobamba is always busy! This creates a great atmosphere and doesn't affect the service you receive.  Only thing I would sugge...

The Breakfast Club

Now, whether you are after a full Scottish breakfast (freeeeeedom) or a full English, then Glasgow City Centre has some great locations that don't cost an arm and a leg.  Hengler's Circus (Wetherspoon)   Location: 351-363 Sauchiehall Street, G2 3HU You don't have to walk far to find one of Glasgow's five Wetherspoon's in the City Centre, you are spoiled for choice. Despite the faint smell of the alcohol you drank the night before, 'Spoons' comes in top tier for a full cooked breakfast.  Equally, the extensive breakfast menu offers lighter options like an Avocado breakfast muffin or Eggs Benedict , for the posher member of your party. Whatever you choose, be sure to pair it with a refillable tea or coffee mug for just £1.50.  Potentially one of the best parts about choosing a Wetherspoon for breakfast is you don't even have to talk to anyone, simply download the app and input your table number and order what you like. No queuing, no chitcha...

In Pizza We Crust

Image
Much like burgers, pizza is everywhere in Glasgow. However, once again, we don't let the huge chains take over.  Be it authentic Italian, modern Artisan or the pizza pies of New York. Here you will find the best (reasonably priced) pizza in Glasgow City Centre. Paesano Pizza  Location: 94 Miller Street, G1 1DT What appears to be a quiet and hidden away spot, is transformed as the lunch or dinner peak hits. Loud and bustling, this pizza restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere. Relaxed style of ordering allows you to simply circle your choice on the place mat. The only issue to note, is the inability to book ahead... so you may be left waiting in the entrance till your name is called.  Veggie ✔ Vegan ✔ Gluten Free ✖ Great flavours, true Italian pizza, 'instagrammable' food.  Pizza Punks  Location: 90 Saint Vincent Street, G2 5UB Describing itself as 'Anarchy in the Oven' you can imagine the cool atmosphere o...

Burgers, Fries and all things nice

Image
You don't have to walk far to find a burger place in Glasgow's City Centre. Large chains are equally common amongst those visiting Glasgow such as Handmade Burger Co., Five Guys and GBK. Here are a short list of some of the less well-known spots, which offer great deals.  NYC Bar & Grill  Location: 185 Hope Street, G2 2UL Offering 2for1 burgers and hotdogs everyday, this place is not to be missed.  Before you dive in, there is a loophole: only valid with the purchase of a drink. Which, on a low budget, usually involves tap water all round. Equally, factor in fries or a side when adding up your section of the bill.  Great food, fast service and lots of choice, with great cocktails to make your night even better.  BRGR  Location: 6 Royal Exchange Square, G1 3AB Whether you call it "burger" or attempt to say "BRGR" without the vowels, this place is great for those sticking to a budget.  BRGR offers menu items individually,...
