Wok' a Good Deal

Now when it comes to Asian food, you often have a harsh choice to make, you either opt for a cheap, below average, takeaway or find yourself in an Indian with your friends and before you know it, you're paying for curry, sides, naan breads, starters ... you get the picture.
Here are a few key places within Glasgow which fall between these two extremes, and hopefully wont rip you off in the process!

Yippon

Location: 106 George Street, G1 1RF

Now this is worth the investment. The long queues are enough to tell you how good it is, so do avoid peak times if you can. With their own staff claiming they serve the "Best chips in Glasgow", the Salt and Chilli Fries are a must. Great option for fresh Chinese food which doesn't leave you as full as when you order far too much for delivery.

Unique to Glasgow City Centre and located a stone's throw away from Strathclyde University and George Square it's ideal for when you've got a train to catch at Queen Street. Equally offering items such as Bubble Tea for the hipsters having a read, and Soft Serve Ice Cream - for whoever fancies that with their Chinese!

Fancy interior, view dishes before you order, best chips in town!

TukTuk

Location: 426 Sauchiehall Street, G2 3JD

Now, as stated in the intro, with Indian food you look at the price of the curry and think its going to be affordable. Then, after giving in and not wishing to look like the tight one, you've had every dip, bhaji and naan bread on top. The great thing about TukTuk is it's Indian 'Street Food'. So you order some little plates to share and can clearly plan your price. So this is clearly a 'cheap eat' when considering the price of an Indian.

With all the standard choices such as Korma and Butter Chicken, to their specials such as TukTuk Wallah Staff Curry, there is lots to choose from. Only thing to consider is portions are small 'Street Food' plates, so you'll need to order a few things to share. In terms of drinks you simply BYOB with any beer or wine and pay only £1 per person for recycling.

Great starters, BYOB, simple menu with helpful staff.

Nanakusa

Location: 441 Sauchiehall Street, G2 3LG

Lastly, we have a taste of Japan with the popular Nanakusa. Nanakusa, meaning the 'Seven herbs of Japanese Cookery' it's a sure favourite for all your sushi and Japanese cuisine.

The big one here is the endless platters of Sushi, Sashimi and Temaki with everything from salmon and vegetables, to crab, eel and fish roe. It may just top popular chain 'Yo Sushi' on their extensive range. As well as Sushi, they have a huge range of noodle and rice dishes and lots of great starters such as Deep fried Octopus Takoyaki and Ebi Tempura King Prawns. This is definitely not one for the fussy friends amongst your party, please kindly move to the 'Pizza' edition of this Blog.

Like much of the Asian food in Glasgow, you cannot find the cheapest 'eat' if you are looking for authentic and tasty food. This small and unique restaurant in the heart of Sauchiehall Street is a must try.
